Attivecomeprima is the leading Italian helpful organisation providing
global support for women affected by cancer. It was created in
1973 within the Istituto dei Tumori of Milan with the aim of improving
the quality of life of women affected by breast cancer.
The organisation has carried out its activity in its historic
headquarters in via Livigno, Milan, since 1983. It was founded
through the efforts of Ada Burrone and surgeon Professor Pietro
Bucalossi, director of the Institute at that time.
Attivecomeprima has been and currently is a point of reference
for people with cancer, their families and the specialists interested
in its work.

Notwithstanding the progress made in the last thirty years in
the cancer research and the resulting benefits in terms of quality
of life and life expectancy, cancer is still one of the most feared
diseases, the one that generates the greatest fears in the publics
mind. People with cancer are exposed to the fear of pain, death
and an unknown future. Other resources besides those of medicine
are therefore required to ensure an adequate response to this
existential condition.
For this reason, ever since its founding Attivecomeprima has provided,
in alliance with the medical and scientific communities, an environment
for developing new energies and channeling them into life instead
of fear, independently of individual physical conditions and timescales.
